How to Delete Siri History on iPhone (Siri App Chats and Old Requests)
Delete Siri conversations in the new Siri app, set them to auto-delete after 30 days, clear Siri & Dictation History, and stop Apple storing your audio. Plain iPhone steps.
Quick answer: If you use the new Siri app (Siri AI, iOS 27), open it, touch and hold a conversation, and tap Delete. To delete several, tap the menu in the top-right corner, tap Select, pick them, and delete. To have old chats clean themselves up, go to Settings → Siri → Keep Conversations and choose 30 Days. For older-style Siri requests, go to Settings → Siri → Siri & Dictation History and tap Delete Siri & Dictation History.
Siri now works more like a chat app. When Siri AI (Beta) is on, your iPhone gets a Siri app that keeps your conversations in one place and syncs them to your other Apple devices signed in to the same Apple Account. That is handy, but it also means a list of everything you've asked. Here is how to tidy it up.
Siri AI and the Siri app need iOS 27 or later on an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 or newer, with English set as the Siri language for now. On other iPhones you won't see a Siri app. Skip to "Delete Siri & Dictation History" below.
Delete one Siri conversation
- Open the Siri app.
- If it opens to a new, empty conversation, tap to see your conversation history.
- Touch and hold the conversation you want gone.
- Tap Delete, then tap Delete again to confirm.
Delete several Siri conversations at once
- Open the Siri app and go to your conversation history.
- Tap the menu in the top-right corner, then tap Select.
- Tap each conversation you want to remove.
- Tap the delete button, then Delete to confirm.
Because conversations sync through iCloud, deleting on your iPhone also clears them on your iPad and Mac when they use the same Apple Account.
Make Siri delete old chats for you
By default, Siri keeps conversations forever. You can change that:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Siri.
- Tap Keep Conversations and choose 30 Days or 1 Year.
Apple says conversations older than the time you pick are permanently deleted. If you only want to start fresh each time, you can also set Opens To to A New Conversation in the same menu, so your old chats don't pop up when you open the app.
Delete Siri & Dictation History (all iPhones)
Apple also keeps a record of your Siri and dictation requests on your device. To clear it:
- Open Settings.
- Tap Siri (on older iPhones, Siri & Search).
- Tap Siri & Dictation History.
- Tap Delete Siri & Dictation History and confirm.
Stop Apple keeping your voice recordings
If you once said yes to helping improve Siri, Apple may store audio and transcripts of your requests. Apple says this data isn't tied to your Apple Account and may be kept for up to two years. To turn it off:
- Open Settings → Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to Analytics & Improvements.
- Turn off Improve Siri & Dictation.
This covers requests from now on. Do it on each device you use, since it's set per device.
If Siri passed your question to ChatGPT
Siri can hand some questions to ChatGPT. What happens to that depends on whether you signed in:
- Not signed in to ChatGPT: Apple says OpenAI must not store your request or its answer (unless the law requires it) and can't use it for training.
- Signed in to ChatGPT: those requests are saved in your ChatGPT chat history, and deleting your Siri chats does not remove them. Delete them in ChatGPT: see How to delete ChatGPT chat history.
To stop Siri using ChatGPT, go to Settings → Siri → ChatGPT and turn off Use ChatGPT (with Siri AI: Settings → Siri → Extensions → ChatGPT, then turn off Use Extension).
Deleting is not a time machine
Deleting tidies your history. It doesn't undo something you already shared. If you said or typed a password, change it. If you shared a bank or card number, call your bank. And if a call or text claiming to be "Apple Support" asks for a code or a payment, hang up: see How to spot fake support. Next time, check our What never to paste list first.
