How to Clear AI History on iPhone (ChatGPT, Gemini, Siri and More)

Quick answer: Each AI app on your iPhone keeps its own history, so you clear them one at a time. In most chat apps (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok), you open the chat list, touch and hold a chat, and tap Delete. For Siri, use the Siri app or Settings → Siri. For Snapchat My AI and Meta AI, the delete button is in the app's settings. Deleting an app from your phone does not delete your chats; they stay in your account.
If you have a few AI apps on your phone, it can feel like your questions are scattered everywhere. They are, a little. The good news is that each app only takes a minute. Grab a cup of coffee, pick the apps you actually use, and work down the list.
Most AI apps save your chats to your account, not just your phone. If you delete the app and sign in again later, the old chats come back. Clear the history inside the app first, then delete the app if you want.
Which AI apps do I have?
Open your Home Screen and swipe left until you reach the App Library. Type "AI", "chat", or the app name into the search box at the top. Common ones are ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, Grok, Meta AI and Perplexity. Siri is built in, and Snapchat and WhatsApp have AI chats tucked inside them.
ChatGPT
- Open the ChatGPT app.
- Tap the menu icon (two short lines) at the top left to see your chats.
- Press and hold the chat you want gone.
- Tap Delete and confirm.
To delete every chat: open the menu, tap your profile, then Settings → Data controls → Delete all chats. This can't be undone. OpenAI says deleted chats leave your account right away and are permanently deleted from its systems within 30 days. Watch out for Archive: it only hides a chat; it doesn't delete it.

Gemini
- Open the Gemini app.
- Tap Menu at the top.
- Under Recent, touch and hold the chat you want to remove.
- Tap Delete.
Google says deleting a chat this way also deletes it from your Gemini Apps Activity. To clear many at once, open your Activity page (myactivity.google.com/product/gemini in Safari works too), tap Delete, and pick a time range such as All time.

Siri
If you have the new Siri app (iOS 27 on newer iPhones), open it, touch and hold a conversation, and tap Delete. To have old chats clear themselves, go to Settings → Siri → Keep Conversations and choose 30 Days.

Microsoft Copilot
- Open the Copilot app and open the menu to see your chats.
- Tap the three dots (•••) next to a chat and choose Delete.
To delete everything: if you signed in with an Apple ID, go to Account → Privacy → Clear my history. If you signed in with a Microsoft account, use account.microsoft.com/privacy/copilot in Safari and choose Delete all activity history.

Meta AI (and Meta AI inside WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger)
In the Meta AI app: tap Menu → Settings → Data & privacy → Manage your information → Delete all chats and media → Delete all.
Inside WhatsApp, Instagram or Messenger, deleting the chat only clears it from your screen. To clear Meta's copy, type /reset-ai in the chat with Meta AI, or /reset-all-ais to reset all of them.

Snapchat My AI
- Tap your Profile icon, then the gear to open Settings.
- Scroll to Privacy Controls and tap Clear Data.
- Tap Clear My AI Data and confirm.

Claude and Grok
- Claude: open your chat list, touch and hold a chat, tap Delete, then Delete again. See How to delete Claude chat history.

A five-minute tidy-up routine
- Pick the one or two AI apps you use most.
- Delete the chats you don't need (or all of them).
- Look for an auto-delete or "keep for" setting and choose the shortest one you're happy with.
- Check whether the app has a memory of you, and clear anything you'd rather it forgot.
- Put a reminder in your calendar to do it again next month.
Deleting is not a time machine
