Signing up for an AI tool should feel like opening a new app, not like a job interview. This guide shows you how to create a real account on the official sites, skip the upsells on day one, and try one small task in your first three minutes.

The safest way to start is to type the name into your browser rather than clicking an ad or store result. Here are the real URLs.

ChatGPT signup
As of late 2026, ChatGPT offers a few ways to create a free account:
- Email and password — Enter your email, create a password, and confirm via a link in your inbox.
- Google, Apple, or Microsoft sign-in — Use an existing account if you prefer not to manage a new password.
- Phone number — Some regions require a phone number for verification.
After signup, you land on the free tier. ChatGPT Plus is optional and unlocks faster responses and newer models. You do not need to upgrade to try the tool.
If you see a pop-up asking for a credit card before you have tried a single prompt, close the tab and re-check the URL. The real free tier does not require payment.
Gemini signup
Gemini is tied to your Google account. If you already use Gmail, Google Photos, or YouTube with a Google account, you likely already have what you need.

- Accept the terms.
- Start typing or speaking.
There is no separate "Gemini password" to remember. Free tier first; Gemini Advanced is optional later.
Copilot signup
Copilot has two faces: the Copilot website and the Copilot already inside Windows, Edge, and Microsoft 365.
- Website: Go to copilot.microsoft.com and sign in with a Microsoft account (Outlook, Hotmail, Xbox, or a work account).
- Built-in: If you are already signed into Windows or Edge with a Microsoft account, Copilot may already be one click away.

What you can skip on day one
You do not need any of these to get value:
- Adding a credit card
- Browsing the GPTs or plugins marketplace
- Turning on voice mode
- Upgrading to "Pro" or "Plus"
- Linking third-party apps
